You occasionally get the odd email from us or follow us on social media but when we put out a new product or advertise our services. There is a genuine question, why order from us?

Well in this post, I aim to give you a little reminder of our background, ethos & what happens when you order from us.

You may be familiar with some of our Black Country products. T shirt etc with black country slogans & humour. Hopefully the idea behind these is fairly obvious , as we aim to promote our local culture & make people feel proud of where they are from. That sense of identity & appreciation for one another is an important aspect of community. Uniquely in the Black Country , we are able to do that with no small amount of humour & self depreciation.

By buying into that, it helps to perpetuate the flag waving & promoting of culture we are able to do.

However, at Black Country T Shirts we are very aware that we do not want to simply be a mascot for culture & it is important to our ethos to make sure that we are actively supporting the community with our acts & not only our words.

From the monies we make from your custom orders, whether that be John’s embroidered plumbers workwear polos  or a one off funny t shirt for Jane’s 21st. We ensure that we reinvest that in our & your community continuously.

Below is just a small selection of how we have re-invested in supporting the Black Country in this period of lockdown alone.

Acorns Hospice.

Back In November, we had our ‘No Black Friday Sale’ in aid of Acorns Hospice in Walsall.
For those that don’t know. Acorns Hospice is a charity that provides crucial care & support for children with life limiting or life threatening conditions across the Black Country.
Over the course of 5 days through the orders you placed, we were able to raise £500 towards their ‘Save Acorns Hospice Appeal.

Fens Pool Community Association.
Just in the past few days we donated Free Uniform t shirts for Fens Pool Community Association.
Who help the community out and put activities on for kids in the Pensnett area and also help the vulnerable out with a food bank & activities.
Once again, just an opportunity to support those who help our communities

Maggie Oliver Foundation

Not based in the Black Country,  but we were introduced to the Maggie Oliver Foundation by a Black Country wench who volunteers with them, the Maggie Oliver Foundation help survivors of childhood sexual abuse through trained support volunteers, many of which have their own ‘lived experience.  Here are some of the tops we were able to make & donate to the volunteers, just as a simple way of we support you too.

Deafscope
Free t shirts for gentlemen completing a bike ride from Stourbridge to Wales in aid of Deafscope. Who bring together deaf-friendly and owned businesses, places, services, professionals and events to enhance the lives of the community.
This ride was further challenged by both riders being partially deaf & one of the gent’s also partially sighted.
Being able to show support for such dedicated people on the back of your support is incredibly rewarding.

Birmingham PHABS
Birmingham PHAB camps is a small local charity, entirely voluntarily ran and does not receive any government funding. Every year volunteers fund raise and organise activity camps for young adults and children with a variety of disabilities.
This year we were able to donate 15 free hoodies for their Adult Breakaway camp from your continued support.

Justice For Ryan
We have been a long time supporter of the Stourbridge based organisation. Set up by the family of Ryan Passey, a stourbridge local who was the victim of a knife crime in 2017.
Set up with the passion for justice for this bubbly young man, his legacy has grown into the larger fight against knife crime.
We make custom clothing with the Charities branding with profits going to the further the support of victims of knife crime & continued fight to change law around knife crimes.

VETS masks
We make & sell facemasks on our site supporting the Armed forces & veterans in the community.
For every AFVBC face covering sold, we are paying a royalty for the use of the registered trademark, and making a voluntary donation to the Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast organisation, to support them in their endeavours to help veterans to ‘return to the tribe’

Black Country Festival
We are founding members & continue to be (despite the break in 2020!) one of the driving members of the Black Country Festival Committee.
For those of you that don’t know of the Black Country Festival, The Black Country Festival is a series of independently organised events throughout July encompassing the Official Black Country Day which is on July 14th every year.

Each event is designed to bring the Black Country communities & people together using the celebration of our shared Black Country culture and heritage.
Since it’s inception in 2014, it is estimated over 100,000 people have attended a Black Country Festival event. Work is in progress for a limited number of events to happen this year. You can keep up to date with the listings here : http://www.black-country-festival.co.uk/

Poppy appeal
For the past 2 years, we have started a Black Country Poppy appeal, creating a special edition Black Country poppy pin badge along with the help of the Dudley Remembers committee who have been putting on remembrance concerts in Dudley for a number of years collecting money for the Royal British Legion.
All proceeds from the badges are split between securing future events & a direct donation to the Royal British Legion.
This years (well 2020’s) figure raised was £1228.

Bowood Court & Mews Care Home Redditch

Came up with a bostin idea for keeping their residents happy & engaged , after finding it difficult during the coronavirus pandemic , being isolated from their loved ones. They planned an in house Christmas choir where they will be competing via zoom against sister care homes.

Duncan Edward Foundation
Upstairs in our shop, we house the Duncan Edwards Museum.
The newly opened Museum (& reopens May 17th 2021)  is a unique way of hearing Duncan’s incredible story through photos, memorabilia and personal affects while at the same time promoting the Foundation set up in his name – supporting local children to achieve their sporting dream.

It houses an incredible piece of Dudley history, which also itself uses Duncan’s legacy to enrich the lives of Black Country folk today. We really hope you pop in to visit this soon.

Entrance to this museum is FREE & relies on donations only.

If you are holding a raffle or event, supporting your community, we always want to hear from you. It’s true that we can’t always help everyone.. but with your continued support for our business, the further we can reinvest in our communities.
