Originally making bicycles in 1887, John Marston’s Sunbeam brand became a byword for high quality in all the products they made.
Working out of their famous Sunbeamland factories in Wolverhampton, Sunbeam went on to make cars from 1902 & then motorcycles from 1912. Forming one of Wolverhampton’s most important industries.
Such was the quality of the work coming out of the factories, the cars were seen as a more refined competitor to the Rolls Royce & the motorbikes became known as ‘The Gentleman’s Machine”.
The design includes an image of a 500cc 1936 Sunbeam Solo motorcycle & celebrates a rich heritage of items made in the Black Country.
