England…The Home Of Football.

As we so like to tell everyone, whenever they start mentioning how many trophies they have won, but where is the true home of football?

Well the truth is… everywhere!

People who have a passion for football , always have a trigger of when it started for them, whether it was playing down the local park or someone taking you to see your fist match, first goal, first anything!

That’s why the true home of football is only ever personal.
The home of football is the palce of your trigger

For me, it’s bearmore park.
At the age of 8 or 9 I was allowed to play out on my own for the first time, at the park opposite my house. With the excitement of discovering the new world without supervision, I got into playing football with the local kids & found freedom.

From there I found my passion & played whenever I could, every lunch at school & every evening afterwards.
My dad took me to my first game, Aston Villa v Everton about 1990.

I had adopted Everton as my favourite team having watched them on TV in the FA Cup Final of 1989……even though they lost!
(They were the underdog & well everyone likes an underdog!)

However, being from the Midlands, my Dad took me to watch them play away from home at Aston Villa, with the hope that I would change my alligiences to a more local team.

The game finished 1-1, I didn’t see any of the goals as we were sat quite far back & whenever anything interesting was about ot happen, we all stood up from our seats, giving me a view of the back of the man in front of me only.

If I’m honest, the experience put me off a little & I went to see only a handful of more live game since & I watch all football I can on TV when it’s on.

We all know, it is a scientifical impossiblility to change your football team & I have stuck with Everton ever since, without ever going to the ground.

Many will say that I’m not a true fan, as I am not really putting money into the game by gonig to watch matches, however, while I understand that point and to a large degree you can say it’s true.

I would argue that the passion I feel, when I watch or pay a game, is not less or greater than many year season ticket holder. Does that not allow me to be called a fan?

I know my ‘Home of Football’, I have even got the t shirt to prove it.
